About me
Who am I?
My interest and passion for collecting U.S. license plates began in 2002, when I first visited this country. I was amazed by the wide variety of plate designs that caught my eye in the streets. Each state had — and still has — its own distinctive designs. Did you know that license plate designs change almost every decade in nearly all states?
In addition, there are special and custom-made plates, which are very common on the roads. For example, in the past, every U.S. university had permission to issue license plates featuring its own design — and there are truly many universities across the country. Moreover, in most states, it is possible to order personalized plates with a custom design and a letter and number combination of your own choosing.
By now, I have been traveling in the United States for over 20 years. From each trip, I have brought interesting license plates. In the early years, I visited auto salvage yards, where I found plates of interest and removed them myself from scrapped vehicles. Today, I have built a network of friends across different states who help me find specific plates I am looking for.
Also, I collaborate with the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association (ALPCA), which has been organizing collectors’ meetups and fairs in various states since 1954.
